About Me

Jens Kosak was born in 1979 in Germany and grew up in a small town close to the Dutch border. In 2003 he completed an apprenticeship as a photographer. In the same year, looking for a change of scenery, he moved to Ireland where he started working in a Restaurant in Galway for the next four years. In 2007, Jens decided to take up study again and enrolled in a one year course of Furniture Design in the Galway Technical Institute, where he discovered his passion for this career and decided to further study in The Galway Mayo Institute of Technology, Letterfrack for the next four years. While he was in second year at college Jens obtained the winning prize in the Student Design Awards of Ireland (House and Home Magazine and Crafts Council of Ireland Award) with a self-assembly Plywood-Table. In 2011, he entered the Student Design Awards of Ireland for the second time, now with a Fixings-Free Bed, which achieved the second place. In the same year, this Bed entered the Wood Marketing Federation Awards winning the first prize in the Design Category. Jens graduated in 2011 with an Honours Degree in Furniture Design and Manufacture and is working on his career as furniture and lighting designer since then.
